Junior Tennis Programs
Future Stars
6-7 years
When it comes time to put their game to the test, the right class for our 6 to 7 year olds is Future Stars. Here students will practice, compete and play under the standards and techniques laid out by the USTA's QuickStart program. QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring.
Each class at this level will be ran by a USPTR/USPTA professional, who not only understands the game, but also how to make it relevant for this age group. Children will have scheduled practices twice weekly and inter/intra club matches on Saturdays. In addition to technique, children will learn strategy, scoring, court etiquette and sportsmanship.
The goal at this level is simple - get the kids playing the game. Through playing and competing, kids will learn to serve, rally and volley and will hone the skills that will take them to the next level.
Children must have certain prerequisites skills to join this class. They must be able to throw under-hand to a spot approx. 12 ft away and to catch a tossed ball from the same distance after one bounce.
Please make sure your special player has their own racquet - sizes should range from 21 to 25 inches in length, tennis shoes, a water bottle (Please nothing sticky) and dressed for lots of movement. |
